About SOREA and our treatments

Short, straight answers.

What is SOREA?

SOREA is a mobile equine recovery and rehabilitation support service. We work on site – at stables, yards and competitions – with non-invasive technologies: cold compression, red and near-infrared light, laser photobiomodulation and PEMF. As a premium service we also offer residential rehabilitation.

Is this a veterinary service?

No. We do not diagnose, prescribe medication, or replace veterinary examination or treatment. Injured horses are treated only after a veterinary diagnosis and within the limits set by the vet.

Do I need a veterinary diagnosis?

Not for Recovery or back maintenance of a healthy horse in work. Yes for the Tendon & Ligament programme and for any injured horse. With new swelling, heat, pain or lameness, a veterinary examination is always the first step.

Where do you travel to?

Private stables, yards, training camps and competition venues. Service area: by arrangement. Travel terms are confirmed when you enquire.

What do you need on site?

A quiet, ideally covered spot where the horse can stand safely, a 230 V power supply, and clean, dry treatment areas.

Is it painful or uncomfortable for the horse?

The technologies we use are non-invasive. We watch the horse’s reactions throughout; if it becomes unsettled, we adapt or stop.

How many treatments will be needed?

A single session makes sense for recovery. For persistent or chronic problems we recommend a 3, 5 or 10-session course. The number of sessions is not the same as frequency: the rhythm is always set individually, based on the horse’s response and – where relevant – the veterinary plan.

Does it prevent injuries?

We don’t claim that. Thoughtful recovery is part of a sport horse’s workload and recovery management and can offer additional support alongside appropriate training, rest, nutrition and veterinary care.

Can it be used at competitions?

Yes, we also set up at competition venues. Complying with the rules of the competition is the responsibility of the rider and the organiser; we can agree details with the organisers in advance.

How well-founded are these technologies?

To different degrees. The cooling effect of compression cooling has been measured in horses; low-level laser therapy has been evaluated for back pain in a randomised study in horses; evidence for PEMF and LED light therapy in horses is still limited and weaker. Details and sources are on our Evidence page.

How do you track progress?

We create a horse profile and initial assessment, document every session and reassess on courses. If there is no improvement, the condition gets worse or a new sign appears, we recommend a veterinary check instead of further treatment.

What is Light Aftercare?

Easy-to-use, home red/NIR light units for the days between treatments, used according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Included with treatments listed at 30 000 Ft or more; otherwise available for +6 500 Ft.

Do you work with horses with behavioural problems?

Within the residential programme, yes – but we ask for a veterinary examination first, because changes in behaviour are often caused by pain.
